We are three university students based in Canada. We started The Playground Project as a way to raise funds for children in developing countries who don't have access to toys and safe play areas. We want to emphasize the importance of playing during early development and give children positive experiences in school.

From a young age I knew I wanted to go into this field and am excited to be learning what i’m learning. Aside from this, I’m thrilled to be apart of the playground project organization and hope to make a small difference in the lives of less fortunate children around the world. As a kid, I remember going to the park and creating so many great memories. I hope that I can give the same joy and excitement to kids around the globe by building play areas for them!

With this project I hope to encourage the younger generation to do the same, by having the opportunity to explore their environment. As children we all enjoyed playing at the playground and I can’t think of a better way to bring joy to these kids that are less fortunate than we were. I'm very excited to work continually alongside the principal and other locals from a city where I knew and visited as a child myself.

I'm a fourth year student at the University of Toronto completing a honours undergraduate degree in the neuroscience specialist program. I find enjoyment in artistic activities and time outdoors, as well as volunteering with patients with dementia. This project has inspired me and allowed me to find a way to help children learn, grow, and maximize their cognitive potential. I am excited to expand my effort internationally to help give to children and communities who do not have access to the same funds and supplies that I have received growing up in Canada.
This means that we can communicate about project goals and needs quickly, and without as many problems as larger organizations. We are able to create realistic goals and make decisions with the help of our partners, because there are fewer people to deliberate with.
100% of all contributions go directly to the project we are working on, and maintenance of the organization. Everything our team does is on their own time without any financial compensation, only the good feeling that comes with helping others.
We work with people in the country of the project, so we are able to contribute to the hardworking locals and their businesses. From this, we are also able to understand the needs of each community, so we can suit the needs of the children and people who will be receiving the playground. This approach also reduces the amount of shipping across oceans and allows use to give back to the community in another way.
We dedicate ourselves to one project at a time, so we are able to give our full attention to it.
Although we only take on one project on at a time, we are always looking for new ways to help. If you have any suggestions for the next project or would like to become involved, send us an email!
